Types of Training We Offer…

  • Our 1-2-1 Training sessions are fully adapted to the individual needs, personality and quirks of your dog. We work closely with both you and the dog in front of us to help build the well-behaved canine companion of your dreams.

These sessions take place in a variety of settings including your home and the local environment. This allows us to practice and then strengthen the skills in real-life situations where they matter most.

Common areas we support clients with include poor recall, lead pulling and house training . That said we always love a new challenge so if you’re looking for help with something different please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Training sessions are usually 1 hour long, however again we can adapt this to your individual needs and arrange shorter or longer as required.

Regardless of your session length, your training journey begins with an initial consultation of approximately 90 mins. This allows us to gather all the relevant information about yourselves, your dog and the areas of training you’d like support with. Whilst consultations always start in your home, but depending on your goals, we may also venture outside within the local environment.

  • If you’re looking for regular dog walking support, our training walks ensure your dog’s skills are consistently reinforced and improved during the times you can’t.

A wide variety of training and socialisation can be introduced and developed while your dog is with us, ready for you to continue and strengthen in your day-to-day life.

Our training walks are structured in blocks, starting with an introductory walk. This approximately 90 minute appointment allows us to meet you and your pet, discuss your training goals, and complete a short 30 minute walk. After the walk, we’ll debrief with you, sharing our training recommendations, explaining how we’ll work with your dog during our walks, and showing how to carry this training over into your own walks and routine.

From there, just book your weekly walks as required, and we will keep you updated on your dog’s progress and schedule check-ins (either in person or over the phone) to ensure the training is progressing in line with your goals.

  • Bringing home a new puppy is an exciting time, but it can also come with its fair share of challenges! At Pawtential Instinct we’re here to help you give your puppy the best start on their training journey as they settle into your home and the world around them.

Our Puppy Training Course is a 6 week programme, beginning with a 90 minute consultation (either online or in-person) around one to two weeks before your puppy comes home. This session allows us to gain a thorough understanding of your lifestyle, expectations and how you’d like your puppy to fit into your family. From there we tailor the course to set both you and your puppy up for success from day one.

Following the consultation, you’ll receive a fully customised plan, jam packed with helpful tips, knowledge and advice designed to support your puppy’s training, socialisation and early experiences, helping them grow into a confident, well-rounded adult dog.

We will then arrange weekly sessions to check in with your progress and support where required with the implementation of the training, socialisation and habituation mapped out.

If you have any further questions about this course please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help!

Total Course Cost - £150 (over 20% off booking separate training sessions)

How we ensure you get the most out of Training…

Understand the breed and dog’s background

1

It’s important to know the traits and nuances of your particular breed of dog. We can help you identify these and how they can alter your dogs drives and behaviours.

We also aim to gain as deep an understanding to the dog’s background as we can, allowing us to tailor our training approaches to best suit.

Understand your ambitions and background

2

We take the time to develop a full picture view of your world and how you want your dog to coexist within it. This enables us to ensure we are prioritising to help develop the specific skills your canine companion needs to benefit you the most.

Furthermore, by taking the time to understand your background and interests we can tailor our training approaches to ensure training remains fun, practical and enjoyable!

Supporting you to succeed whilst reducing the risks of failure

3

We want to prime you for success and therefore we won’t put you into a position where you have a high chance of failure to ensure training remains effective and supportive.

Equally we will never force you to use a training method that leaves you feeling uncomfortable. There are many different ways of training dogs and we strive to implement the most effective way that’s tailored to you, your pet and the environment we are in.

Transparency and Consistency

4

We remain open and transparent during the training process, and hope you remain the same. Real change happens when we are able to gain an unfiltered insight into the dog’s progress and behaviour.

It’s also important to be consistent with your dog, once you’ve decided what you want to be performed, and when, stick to it and be fair about how you implement them.

Remaining ready for further growth

5

We’ve felt , and seen, first handed the empowerment that comes with successfully training a dog can have and therefore understand the addiction that can come with that. Therefore we remain open to further work and develop with you and your dog should you decide to dive deeper than you originally thought once you’ve caught a glimpse of your pets Pawtential!
